CJ Nelson Designs draws on a lifelong heritage of surf, skate, and craftsmanship — CJ grew up surfing and shaping from a young age in the Bay Area, steeped in family legacy and mentors like Daryl Butsko and Isreal Paskowitz. His early years were shaped by his father’s surf board quiver, contests, and shaping apprenticeship under legends like Bob Pearson, learning practically every detail of design and production. After facing personal challenges and rediscovering his passion, CJ reignited his creativity by building boards driven by innovation, flex curves, material experimentation, and strong aesthetic influences. Today he builds boards and surf culture with the same care, offering deeply personal designs and guiding riders toward the right board without compromise.
