Born and raised in Hawaii, Eric Arakawa learned to surf at age 10 and shaped his first board by 14. With 40 years of experience, he has crafted boards for over ten World Champions and continues to innovate high-performance surfboards for all types of riders. His designs have been ridden to victory in countless Triple Crown, WCT, WQS, Longboard, and Big Wave events worldwide, earning him accolades like Surfing Magazine’s Shaper of the Year in 2003. Today, Eric lives on Oahu’s North Shore, still dedicated to shaping boards that deliver the same stoke he’s loved since childhood—and every Arakawa board we glass and sand here at Surfboard Factory Hawaii carries that legacy.
