If you know, you know. The Bandit was one of Arakawa’s most popular models back when Andy was on tour and he himself would order one every year. After Stab Magazine did an edit featuring one from Andy’s last quiver, we got a lot of inquiries from old fans of the board. The original design files were unusable so our only choice was to find a reference board and draw a new file from scratch. Since the model itself existed in a few different variations, we had some options. Andy’s personal was still in the attic, so it seemed pretty fitting to use his as the reference for the new master file. If the RP is our F1 car, this is our go-cart: super accessible, easy to control, and an insane amount of fun.

The model was born when Kekoa Cazimero wanted his 4’11 Stubby (father of the Half Pint) stretched out to ride in all sorts of small wave conditions. What was meant to be a one-off design ended up connecting with many surfers looking for a fast, easy-riding feel that sticks to your feet. After it had a good run for some years, we tried to freshen it up and make adjustments which became the Expresso and the Double smoked models. But in the end, we learned that age-old lesson, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The Bandit is back!

What is Black C.A.T?

Black C.A.T. (Carbon Applied Technology) is Surfboard Factory Hawaii’s latest construction, designed to improve flexibility and performance. Using a hand-laminated process with carbon-infused resin.
